On December 7th from 10:00 to 2:00, the Marshfield Democratic Town Committee (MDTC)
is hosting a day of action. Join Democrats and progressive activists who are volunteering to conduct neighborhood outreach as part of the day of action. Volunteers will be meeting up at the Marshfield Public Library parking lot to get outreach kits to invite neighbors to MDTC's Veterans Coat Drive on December 28th. The outreach kits include a contact list with 50 Democrats from their neighborhood, invitations to the coat drive, and instructions. The outreach can be done whatever way the volunteer feels most comfortable with the goal of contacting the neighbors on the list before December 27th.
Neighbor-to-neighbor (NTN) outreach campaigns are the most effective way to stop the Republican echo chamber. The NTN campaign highlights the significant influence of individuals in one's life over television and the internet. Your Democratic neighbor coming to your door to ask you to donate coats for veterans in our community is more powerful than a Republican talking head screaming about teachers grooming children in Texas. Things that happen locally are more important than things that happen nationally. MDTC is utilizing this fact to involve our neighbors in the political process through engagement events.
As part of the NTN campaign, the committee has created a contact list for neighborhoods made up of 50 democratic households. For each contact list, the committee has a volunteer invite neighbors on the list to the coat drive. In addition to the contact list, the committee provides NTN instructions and 50 invitations to the coat drive. The NTN campaign volunteer activity typically lasts between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the volunteer's approach to outreach. Outreach can be done by calling the neighbors, mailing the invitation, dropping the invitation off, or via text or email messaging. The personally delivered invitation is the most effective method to influence neighbors and counteract the Republican echo chamber.
