Marshfield has two state representatives, with the majority of Marshfield being in the 4th Plymouth district and two precincts in the 6th Plymouth district. The 4th Plymouth is represented by Democrat Patrick Kearney, while the 6th Plymouth is represented by incumbent Republican Ken Sweeney, who is being challenged by Jessica Bradley Rushing. 6th Plymouth is made up of Precincts 4 and 2a in Northern Marshfield. The district runs along the Duxbury-Pembroke line. The town of Marshfield is currently represented by Democrat Patrick Kearney in the 4th Plymouth, and Jessica Bradley Rushing is running in the 6th Plymouth to challenge the Republican incumbent. Patrick's district includes precincts 1-3 and 5-7 of Marshfield and includes parts of Norwell and all of Scituate. Jessica's district includes precincts 2a and 4 of Marshfield and includes parts of Halifax, Hanson, Pembroke, and all of Duxbury.
The border between the representative districts starts at Acorn St. at the Duxbury-Marshfield town line, traveling towards the center of Marshfield. The left side of the street is in 6th Plymouth, and the right side is in 4th Plymouth. The boarder follows along Acorn St. to Moraine St. and to the Marshfield town hall. Where Moraine St. meets Route 3A in Marshfield center, the border turns left towards Forest St. On Forest St. the district continues with left and right divisions, then turns left on Pine St. The district extends from Pine Street to Union Street and ends at the Norwell-Marshfield town line.
