The Marshfield Democratic Town Committee hosted its annual winter veterans coat drive on Saturday the 27th.  The day was quite chilly, and Marshfield had two inches of snow overnight, but many still came out to donate. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the drive. The committee collected over 300 coats and other winter apparel, including boots.

The committee heard from several people that they were unable to attend the coat drive due to the snowstorm. As a result of this feedback the committee received, the donation drive has been extended to Saturday, January 10. You can drop off donations at 1015 South River St., Marshfield, MA, or contribute directly to the veterans' organizations by visiting their website and making an online donation.

The Veterans Winter Coat Drive is part of the Marshfield Democratic Town Committee's attempt to increase civic engagement and improve the tone of political conversations in Marshfield through small volunteer opportunities that benefit our community.  The town committee's motto is "do good often," and we implement this by hosting four volunteer opportunities per year.  The committee's next volunteer opportunity will be in April when the committee recruits a team of volunteers to help clean up Marshfield Center as part of the town wide Earth Day cleanup effort.  It will then be followed by the summer blood drive with the American Red Cross and the fall food drive on Halloween weekend to benefit the Marshfield food pantry.  If you are interested, RSVP online to volunteer and join our team.
